Environment
The package bundles connectors for environmental data: citizen sensing from openSenseMap, official air quality from the German Environment Agency, gauge levels of federal waterways via Pegelonline, state gauges from the NRW flood portal and your own flood sensors via the Endress+Hauser Netilion platform. The nodes deliver flat objects or Smart Data Model entities that can be transferred into a context broker with the NGSI-LD Builder.

Included nodes
openSenseMap
Fetches the latest readings of selected senseBoxes and emits one object per box with all sensors.
Open nodeAir Quality (UBA)
Current air quality and forecasts of the German Environment Agency as AirQualityObserved and AirQualityForecast entities.
Open nodePegelonline
Subscribes to the EDIS MQTT broker and emits every reading of a gauging station as a WaterObserved entity.
Open nodeLANUK Flood Portal
Downloads the measurement archive of the NRW flood portal and builds one FloodMonitoring entity per gauge.
Open nodeE+H Floodmonitoring
Queries your own flood sensors via the Netilion API and evaluates them against thresholds.
Open nodeInstallation
npm install @htag/node-red-contrib-hypertegrity-environment
Alternatively install the package in the Node-RED editor via Menu → Manage palette → Install and search for hypertegrity-environment. The package requires Node-RED 4.0.5 or later and Node.js 20.18.0 or later. The nodes appear in the palette under the category Data Connectors.
Shared notes
- Dependencies: The package automatically installs
axios(HTTP requests),mqtt(MQTT connection of the Pegelonline node) andadm-zip(extraction of the LANUK measurement archive). - Credentials: openSenseMap, UBA air quality and the NRW flood portal can be used without a key. The Pegelonline node needs credentials for the EDIS MQTT broker, the E+H Floodmonitoring node an API key and user credentials of a Netilion account. Credentials are stored encrypted in the Node-RED credential store; the E+H node also resolves environment variables in the form
${NAME}in credential fields. - Network and proxy: All nodes need outgoing HTTPS connections to their respective sources; Pegelonline additionally MQTT over TLS on port 8883. The map dialogs of openSenseMap and Air Quality load Leaflet from unpkg.com and use the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service for address search directly from the browser.
- Fetch behaviour: openSenseMap, Air Quality and E+H Floodmonitoring are trigger-based and need an Inject node. LANUK can additionally fetch via a poll interval. Pegelonline is event-based and has no input. Choose intervals that match the update cycles of the sources and observe their terms of use.
- Units: All nodes work with metric units: water levels in cm, discharge in m³/s, temperatures in °C, particulate matter in µg/m³.
- Data privacy: Official sources (UBA, Pegelonline, LANUK) deliver only station and measurement data without personal reference. With openSenseMap, box names and locations may originate from private individuals; with E+H Floodmonitoring you assign names and links yourself. Check these details before transferring them to a context broker.
- Further processing: The outputs are flat objects or NGSI-style entities without
@context. For an NGSI-LD context broker use the NGSI-LD Builder followed by Post to Stellio.
