Weather
The package bundles connectors for meteorological data: forecasts and official warnings of the German Weather Service, the UV index from OpenUV.io and precipitation measurements from Nivus rain gauges. All nodes deliver flat objects following the Smart Data Models Weather that can be passed directly to the NGSI-LD Builder.

Open nodeInstallation
npm install @htag/node-red-contrib-hypertegrity-weather
Alternatively install the package in the Node-RED editor via Menu → Manage palette → Install and search for hypertegrity-weather. The nodes then appear in the palette under the category Data Connectors.
The package requires Node-RED 4.0.5 or later and Node.js 20.18.0 or later.
Shared notes
- Dependencies: The package installs
axios(HTTP client),unzipper(extraction of the DWD KMZ files) andsax(streaming XML parser) automatically. - Triggering: All four nodes are trigger-based and query their source only on an input message. Combine them with an Inject node whose interval matches the update rate of the source.
- API keys: The DWD nodes need no key. OpenUV Index needs a key from OpenUV.io that you enter in the edit dialog. Nivus Rain Gauge needs a key for the Nivus DataKiosk API that is stored as a Node-RED credential or provided via the
API_KEYenvironment variable. - Proxy: None of the nodes has its own proxy setting.
axioshonours the environment variablesHTTP_PROXYandHTTPS_PROXYof the Node-RED process. - Map views in the editor: DWD Weather, DWD Weather Warnings and OpenUV Index use a Leaflet map with OpenStreetMap tiles in the edit dialog; DWD Weather additionally uses the Nominatim address search. The browser running the Node-RED editor needs internet access for this.
- Data privacy: The nodes process station IDs, coordinates, readings and warning texts, but no personal data. The names you assign to locations appear in the output; do not use names of private individuals or private addresses if the data is published.
- Units: All nodes emit metric units (°C, hPa, m/s, mm). Additional MOSMIX elements of the DWD Weather node keep their original unit.
- Data licences: DWD data is published under the Data licence Germany – attribution – version 2.0. For OpenUV.io and Nivus the terms of the respective provider or contract apply.
