Getting started

Installation

All packages of the library are published publicly on npm and can be installed directly from the Node-RED editor. No access token is required.

Node.js
20.18 or newer
Node-RED
4.0.5 or newer
npm scope
@htag
Licence
EUPL 1.2

Requirements

The nodes require the minimum Node.js and Node-RED versions listed above. Individual nodes may require additional system tools. For example, the GTFS Data node uses unzip, awk and sort. In the Urban Data Space Platform, Node-RED is already included as a component; there you install the packages via the palette manager.

Check the installed versions with:

node --version
node-red --version

Some nodes additionally require credentials for external services, for example an API key for OpenUV or OpenChargeMap. The respective node page explains where to obtain them.

Installing via the palette manager

The palette manager is the easiest way and does not require command-line access.

  1. In the Node-RED editor, open the menu in the top right corner and choose Manage palette.
  2. Switch to the Install tab.
  3. Search for hypertegrity or for the package name, for example @htag/node-red-contrib-hypertegrity-weather.
  4. Click Install next to the package and confirm the dialog.

After installation the new nodes appear in the palette on the left, depending on the node, in the categories Data Connectors, DataOps, Stellio or Helper Nodes.

Installing via npm

Alternatively, install the packages in the Node-RED user directory, usually ~/.node-red:

cd ~/.node-red
npm install @htag/node-red-contrib-hypertegrity-weather

Restart Node-RED afterwards so the nodes are loaded.

Updating and removing

In the palette manager, the Nodes tab shows installed packages with their version number. There you can update or remove packages. With npm, use npm update <package> or npm uninstall <package> in the user directory and restart Node-RED afterwards.

Operation behind a proxy

Several nodes access external services via HTTPS. If your Node-RED runs behind a corporate proxy, set the environment variables HTTPS_PROXY and, if required, NO_PROXY before starting Node-RED. The MQTT Debug node additionally supports its own proxy configuration.
